Wonders of the Insect World Day Camp

An entomology bug camp attendee collecting insect specimens on the banks of the Santa Fe River

Insects are all around us, but how much do you really know about them?  Do you think all insects are bad?  Did you know that many insects are helpful?  The Smithsonian Institute estimates that insects outnumber humans a billion to one!  Some insects are harmful, but many are helpful, and there are thousands of jobs related to insects, or entomology (the study of insects).  Join us for an exciting three days to explore the insect world!  During this day camp, you will learn how to collect insects, how to identify them, how to pin and curate them into a collection to compete at the 2019 Florida 4-H Insectathon.  You will also learn how to compete in the insect identification and skill-a-thon, and have the opportunity to create some insect art that you can exhibit at the North Florida Fair and the 2019 Insectathon.
