The annual UF/IFAS Peanut Field Day will be held at the Marianna North Florida Research and Education Center (NFREC) on Thursday, August 23, 2018, starting with registration at 7:30 AM (CDT) and ending with a sponsored lunch at the nearby Sunland Pavilion.

Certified crop advisor and pesticide CEUs will be available at registration. Organizers are requesting pesticide CEUs from both Florida and Georgia for this event.

Starting at 8 AM, there will be a harvest clinic to demonstrate pod blasting and maturity evaluation. Several types of peanut combines will also be on site for viewing.

Field tours will begin promptly at 9:15 AM. Tour groups will rotate through five tour stops. Topics to be addressed include insect and disease management, herbicide use, nitrogen credit/fertility and variety updates.

Speakers include Barry Tillman (UF/IFAS), Nick Dufault (UF/IFAS), Mike Mulvaney (UF/IFAS), Ethan Carter (UF/IFAS Extension), Kalyn Waters (UF/IFAS Extension), Mark Mauldin (UF/IFAS Extension), Mark Abney (UGA), and Eric Prostko (UGA).

From I-10, take Exit #142 (State Road 71, Marianna). Go north on SR-71 for approximately 2 miles. Turn left onto US-90, heading west. Go about 3 miles, then take SR-71 where the road branches off to the right. Follow SR-71 north for about 6 miles. The Center is on the left.
