This week’s featured video, called “Picking Peanuts” was produced by a Jackson County Farmer, Jim McArthur, McArthur Farms, Bascom, Florida.  He actually shared this video through his YouTube channel and Facebook page in late September.  Many of us in this region have been so disrupted since Hurricane Michael blew through, I thought it would be nice to go back in time to September 2018.  Back to a time when farmers were harvesting a strong crop of peanuts and optimistically preparing for harvest of what looked to be superior cotton crop.  I hope you enjoy seeing this farm family working together to harvest their peanuts on a beautiful September day. The ground was dry enough for equipment to operate, the trees were all green and standing tall, and the center pivot was standing upright.  We will get back to times like this again, but it will take time and a lot of work.

Jim made this video using a GoPro camera attached to a stabilizer made for his camera that can be attached to a drone or held on the ground.  He did his own video editing as well. You may also want to check the video he made of Pickle Cucumber Harvest last summer.  If you enjoyed his work, drop Jim a line and encourage him to make more local farm videos:  Jim McArthur.
