The North Florida Research and Education Center – Marianna will host a Beef & Forage Field Day, at the Beef Unit, on Thursday, September 30, 2021. The event will feature a tour of research and demonstration plots at the station, located one mile west of Greenwood, Florida on Highway 162 – 4932 Hwy 162, Marianna, FL 32446 (direction signs for UF Beef Research Unit/FL Bull Test on Highways 231 or 71).
Registration will begin at 8:00 AM CDT, with the tour starting at 9:00 AM. The registration fee for this event is $10/person, payable at the event. Topics to be discussed at the field day include: mycotoxins in forages and toxic weeds, preparing for breeding season, pasture weeds impact on cattle performance, perennial peanut and bahiagrass blended pastures, limpograss for extending the grazing season, and silage for stocker cattle or replacement heifers. Lunch will be provided at noon, with an optional tour of grazing cover-crops and grass-legume mixtures after lunch.
