Vegetables grow at the Aliff's

If you are a small scale organic or traditional vegetable producer and interested in insect protection in a high tunnel, you are welcome to join us for the 2021 High Tunnel Pest Management Field Day on December 2 from 10-noon at Aliff Farm (3030 Purdue Road, McDavid FL 32568). This program will discuss the research being conducted on growing vegetables in high tunnels using exclusion fabric to help reduce major damaging insects and improve crop yields. The most current research data will be discussed, including the many benefits of using this type of growing system as well as some of the challenges. NRCS and FSA Field personnel, as well as Extension Agents are encouraged to attend.

This workshop will be conducted outside so please dress appropriately. We will be following social distancing practices and masks are encouraged. This meeting has been rescheduled from the November date, so please make plans to attend. There is no charge for the program, but please call the Escambia County Extension Office to register (850) 475-5230 to register, as attendance will be limited.  The program is offered by UF/IFAS Extension, Escambia County, Alabama Cooperative Extension, SARE (Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education), and the Alabama Beginning Farmer Program.
