The Walton County Extension Office will host a pesticide applicator safety and license exam prep training on Tuesday March 7, 2023 at 8:00 AM, at the Walton County Extension Office (732 N 9th St., DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433). In the morning session, the CORE training will cover topics such as pesticide effects on humans/environment and how to understand pesticide labels followed by the CORE exam. After a light lunch, the restricted use private applicator training session will cover principles of integrated pest management, worker protection standards, spray equipment selection, and application rate calculations followed by administration of the exam.

In order to be able to apply for a Restricted Use Pesticide Private Applicator License, you must pass both CORE and Private Applicator exams with a minimum 70% score. For existing license holders, 3 CEUs for CORE (482 &487) and 3 CEUs for private applicator will be offered.

A Restricted Use Pesticide Private Applicator License is intended for use in “production of crops, livestock, or other agricultural products on land owned/leased by the applicator or land owned/leased by the applicator’s employer“. In order to renew a Private Applicator License, a licensee must acquire 4 CORE and 4 Private Applicator CEUs every 4 years.
