Canning is one of the three main methods for preserving food. If you are looking to get started or just want a refresher, make plans to attend! This course is designed to help you better understand the science of how canning works, proper food safety techniques, differences in canning methods, and how to properly preserve food. This class will focus on pressure canning and dehydrating. Participants will be able to take home a sample jar they prepare in class.

This course is designed to help you better understand the homebuying process, the financial responsibilities of homeownerships, and basic home care and maintenance techniques to maintain the value of your home and save money on repairs. This course is open to all participants, from individuals just beginning to those further along in the process. Completion of this course fulfills the homeownership education requirement for the SHIP and USDA Rural Development programs. You are not required to apply for either of these programs to attend the class. The Florida Cooperative Extension Service is a HUD-approved housing counseling agency.

Bay County participants may join the class via Zoom at the Bay County Extension Office. Calhoun County participants may join the class via Zoom at the Calhoun County Extension Office. When registering, please specify the location you prefer.

Experience Living on My Own, a hands-on, real-life simulation that gives young people the opportunity to experience their futures in a fun and exciting way. They are encouraged to make healthy and wise lifestyle choices similar to those adults face on a daily basis. This day camp is for youth ages 12-18 and being presented by UF/IFAS Extension Bay, Calhoun, Holmes, Jackson, and Washington Counties. Registration is $25.00 per person. Transportation and departure times from county offices will vary and be coordinated locally.
