District Teen Leadership Opportunties

Counties in the Florida Panhandle have a strong commitment to growing our teen leaders. Teens as volunteers are one of our most underutilized resources.  In addition to the social capitol that they can provide to Extension programs, teens who are engaged as volunteers do better in school, feel more positive about themselves, and avoid risky behaviors (Child Trends, 2006).  In addition, communities benefit by having citizens who are more likely to vote, have a more positive work ethic, and are more socially responsible.

Here are some upcoming opportunities to help your teen grow his or her Leadership Potential:
District II Teen Leadership Lock-in- Due to Hurricane Irma, this event has been re-scheduled for November 3rd-4th, 2017 in Chipley. Register by October 16th.  We will have team building activities (including an escape room) and a service project.  Download the Agenda and What-to-Pack list.

Items needed for the service project:

  • 2 liter bottles
  • Travel size hand sanitizer
  • String, yarn or ribbon
  • Pecan sandies

Northwest District Teen Retreat- February 16-18th, 2018 at Camp Cherry Lake.  Save the date- registration will be available in December!  In the meantime, read about last year’s retreat.
