This week’s featured video was produced by the Panhandle Ag Extension Team. Doug Mayo, Jackson County Extension was the producer, Mark Mauldin, Washington County Extension, was the director, Matt Lollar was the editor, and Dr. Ann Blount, UF/IFAS Forage Breeder was the anchor woman. This video highlights the differences in cool-season forage types and varieties on February 15, 2018, that were planted November 1, 2017. The challenging weather this season ( very limited moisture from October though January, and 16 out of 31 days in January below freezing) enhanced the performance differences between the newest, most improved varieties when compared to the old stand varieties that producers have grown for many years. Dr. Blount shared some keen observations, based on years of experience, in this thirteen minute video tour of the Milk Check-off Cool Season Forage Demonstration Plots, at the North Florida Research and Education Center, near Marianna, Florida.
