This week’s featured video comes from the National Archives of a video produced by USDA’s Bureau of Nutrition and Home Economics to showcase a set of plans that were developed in 1949 for a U-shaped, Step Saving Kitchen design for farmhouses. After watching the video, you will see that although the kitchen is small, 11′ x 16′, and the appliances and materials are dated, their design ideas are still impressive even today. I also searched the Internet, and found the original Extension pamphlet that was shared with farm families in conjunction with the video: USDA 1949 Step Saving U-Kitchen
