Friday Feature: Clic R Weight for Cattle Management

At the recent NFREC Beef & Forage Field Day, one of the sponsors introduced relatively new technology for the cattle industry.  Clic R Weight has been working with Dr. Nicolas DiLorenzo, UF/IFAS Cattle Nutrition Specialist, to refine technology that can utilize 3-D imagery to weigh cattle without a scale.  The technology utilizes an RFID tag scanner and a 3-D camera to measure the heart girth of cattle as they drink water, and reports the data to a cloud based web site.  The system can even provide alarms if cattle don’t come to drink or stop gaining weight.  Check out the video to see what has been developed.
