Over 1 million acres of Texas have burned up from wildfires over the past week. This week’s featured video was published by CNN to share the story of one rancher affected by the Smokehouse Creek Fire near Canadian, Texas. In the video, the ranch manager shared that he has found 50 dead so far as the fire raged through the ranch. It is difficult to imagine facing such a fast-moving disaster that large, that can move so fast with minimal warning, and the aftermath has been devastating. If you would like to help, go to the Texas Department of Agriculture’s STAR Fund – Helping Texas Farmers and Ranchers Recover from Disaster website to make a donation to their cost-share relief program.
