This week’s featured video was published by SUNUPTV for Oklahoma Public Television from the Cow-calf Corner segment of their TV show last week. In this video, Mark Johnson, Oklahoma Extension Beef Cattle Specialist, discusses opportunities in the 2024 calf market to capitalize on higher prices by utilizing practices such as calving 21 days earlier, castration of bull calves, polled or dehorned calves, utilizing growth implants, and preconditioning for 45 or more days after weaning before sale. These good management practices add even greater value to weaned calves in times with high markets.
