This week’s featured video was published by the UF/IFAS Range Cattle Research and Education Center, in Ona, Florida. In the video, Dr. Brent Sellers, UF/IFAS Pasture Weed Specialist, discusses his years of work on Smutgrass management. This video is a recording of his stop on the recent research center tour. While the video is mainly just him talking, he gives some interesting insights into trying to control this troublesome weed in pastures. There are several key points that include rainfall of at least 1/4″ to no more than 3″ soon after application for activation, and at least 20 gallons of water sprayed per acre for good coverage. Watch the video to hear Dr. Seller’s share a summary of years of research on smutgrass management.
