UF/IFAS is hosting a Row Crop Field Day on July 21st at the North Florida Research and Education Center in Quincy (155 Research Road, Quincy, FL-32351). The field day will be held from 9:15 AM to 3:30 PM (8:15 AM to 2:30PM CDT) and will focus on cotton and corn. It’s a free event, but pre-registration is required to provide an accurate headcount for lunch. Sign-in and registration opens at 9:15 am (EDT) and the program begins at 9:30 am (EDT).
Topics to be addressed include corn and cotton variety performance, cotton pest management (insect/disease), cotton fertility and sod-based rotation practices along with a drone demonstration. During lunch, sponsors will provide 10-minute updates. Florida and Georgia pesticide CEUs, as well as certified crop advisor CEUs will be available. Approved Florida CEUs include 1 Core and 2 category from one of the following areas: Aerial, Private, Row Crop, or D&R.
This event is an excellent opportunity for growers to see a large selection of cotton and corn varieties in-field prior to trying them on-farm. The corn trial is irrigated and evaluating 26 varieties, while the cotton trial has both dryland and irrigated plots evaluating 32 varieties. For a full list of the different varieties, refer to the tables in the Panhandle Ag article titled “2025 Cotton and Corn Variety Trials Underway in North Florida”.
