Friday Feature: Trade War with China Hits Soybean Farmers Hard

This week’s video of the week was published by CBS Evening News to highlight the issues soybean farmers face due to the current Trade War with China.  Farming is not usually something covered on the national news.  Unfortunately, the news was not good in this report.  Scott Gaffner, Greenville, Illinois, shares his frustration as a soybean farmer because China has stopped buying U.S. soybeans.  When asked about a promised financial support program, he shared a great quote that our local cotton farmers can also relate to, “We don’t want the aide, we want the trade!” Watch the video to better understand the issues farmers are facing from the trade war with China.
