This week’s featured video was published by Lisa Baxter, UGA Forage Specialist, to discuss tools for determining forage moisture at harvest. Drying forage to the correct moisture percentage for hay, or wilting adequately for baleage is a very important step to ensure the forage will be preserved instead of damaged, or spoiled. There are a variety of tools that can be used, but the most accurate tool may be one you have never considered, a microwave oven. Don’t forget to add the mug of water, or you’ll smoke up the whole kitchen! (sharing from experience)
