UF/IFAS Extension in collaboration with Auburn University held an Agronomic Scouting School on June 12 at the Washington County Extension Office in Chipley, Florida. Attendees heard from four Extension specialists regarding scouting techniques for insects and disease and relevant management strategies. The presentations highlighted the seasonal occurrence and life cycle timing for a variety of key agronomic crop pests and how these factors impact scouting techniques and control measures. Additionally, attendees were able to earn continuing education units for their pesticide licenses enabling them to continue legally using the many restricted use products necessary to effectively battle crop pests.
