Cattle ranchers and their employees, as well as cattle industry professionals are invited to attend the 2024 Beef & Forage Field Day, at the North Florida Research and Education Center’s (NFREC) – Marianna, Beef Cattle Unit.  The Field Day will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024 and will begin with a trade show of industry professionals, coffee, and registration at 8:00 AM Central Time.  The field tours will begin at 9:00 AM and conclude with a grilled steak lunch.  The registration fee for this event is $10 per person, payable at the event via cash or check, and includes lunch and the printed proceedings that provide additional information from each of the field demonstrations.

The Panhandle Ag Extension Team has developed a dynamic agenda of practical management options for cow-calf producers in the Tri-State Region.  Participants will be divided equally into groups to ride wagons around the station to see six field demonstrations.  This tour will showcase the latest research and extension projects developed at the University of Florida-NFREC and will provide an opportunity for networking and camaraderie with ranchers and extension professionals. Topics to be addressed on the tour include: weed management, winter supplementation of cattle, hay feeding structures and devices, reproductive technologies for the beef industry, pastures legumes for cool season, and options for year-round grazing.

If you are not familiar with the location of the NFREC Beef Unit, it is located one mile west of the town of Greenwood, Florida, at 4925 Highway 162 Marianna, FL 32446.  Look for the UF/IFAS sign on the south side of Highway 162.
