Doe harvest, managed with Doe Hunting Days, in Florida has been a hot topic for years. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is seeking residents’ input on antlerless deer regulations.
This week, FWC released a survey seeking public opinions on current regulations and possible changes to the regulations on antlerless deer harvest. The proposed changes will be implemented by Deer Management Unit (DMU).
The proposed changes could likely occur for the 2025-2026 whitetail season. The proposed changes are:
- Increasing the number of antlerless days in Zones B, C, and D
- Allowing antlerless deer harvest throughout the entire general season in some zones
- Increasing the bag limit in DMU D2 from 2 to 3 antlerless deer
- Proposed changes do not apply to wildlife management areas

According to the survey link – “The FWC is responsible for managing Florida’s fish and wildlife resources for their long-term well-being and for the benefit of people. Based on input from FWC staff and stakeholders, the FWC is considering changes to antlerless deer regulations on lands outside of the WMA system to increase opportunities for antlerless deer harvest. The FWC is seeking your input on these proposed changes through this online commenting tool.”
The changes will be considered for final adoption at the FWC Commissioners’ Feb. 26 – 27, 2025 meeting. If adopted, these rules will take effect on July 1, 2025 and be used for the 2025-2026 hunting season.
