Friday Feature: Zoetis’ Schuler Red Angus Ranch Video Series

This week’s series of short videos were published by Zoetis.  The four-part series tells the story of the Schuler Family that owns and operates Schuler Red Angus, Bridgeport, Nebraska.  Three generations of the Schuler family have lived and raised cattle since on the same land since 1947.  Not only do you get a glimpse of family life on a working ranch, but the series really focuses on generational farming and the impact of succession planning to keep the ranch operation going for multiple generations.   Watch the video series to hear the story of a successful Nebraska ranch and how a multi-generational ranch family has worked together to build a strong future.  The entire four-part series is a total of 20:09, so it does not take that long to watch all the videos.

Episode 1: “It had to be his decision

In the first episode, David Schuler graduates from college and has a tough decision to make.  Does he make his own career path in beef industry or return to the ranch as a single man in his 20s in very rural Western Nebraska to learn ranch management skills from his parents to eventually take over the operation.

Episode 2: “Tough to let go of things.”

David marries Christy, his best friend from college, who shares the challenges of fitting into the ranch family.  How will the ranch transition from parents to son and daughter-in-law?

Episode 3: “We create our good luck.”

In this episode the Schuler family discusses management of the herd, with a focus on heard health.

Episode 4: “I want them to love the work …”

David and Christy start making their mark on the ranch, and the family discusses the future of the operation.
