This week’s featured video was published by PerisocpeFilm.  The video highlights the progress and prosperity of rural America in the post-World War II era.  According to the publisher,  “Life On The Modern Farm” is a 1950 film reviewing the latest scientific advancements in agriculture. This “Forum Edition” of the The March of Time newsreel series was made for classroom and theatrical use. I love watching these old films.  Watch the video to enjoy the history of agriculture at a time when the U.S. farm economy was strong because new technology allowed farmers to produce more than they ever had before.

In 1950, one U.S. farmer fed approximately 15 people, whereas by 2025, that same farmer supports the food needs of roughly 165 people. This massive increase in productivity—more than 600%—is driven by advancements in technology, seed genetics, and equipment efficiency.
