If you would like to see a side-by-side comparison of 15 cool-season forage varieties grown locally under real-world conditions, please stop by the UF/IFAS Extension, Washington County Cool-Season Forage Demonstration on Thursday 2/12/26. The demonstration site, located at 1670 Peel Rd. Chipley, FL, will be open for viewing from 3:00 to 5:30 PM Central Time. All are welcome to stop by at any time during that window and tour the plots. Extension personnel will be on site to discuss the forage varieties, establishment techniques, grazing management, soil fertility management, or any other forage related topic you’d like.

Forages varieties in the demonstration include:
Oats: Juggernaut, Legend 567, & Coker 227

Rye: FL 405, Wrens Abruzzi, & Kelly Grazer III

Triticale: TriCal 1143, & Sprinter

Wheat: AGS 3027

Ryegrass: Jumbo, Attain, Earlyploid, Frost Proof, BigBoss, & Grits

The demonstration includes approximately 1/10th acre of each variety. All varieties were planted on the same day and have been fertilized the same.
