Operation Clean Sweep 2024-25 for Pesticide Disposal

Operation Cleansweep is a mobile pesticide collection program that provides a safe way to dispose of cancelled, suspended and unusable pesticides (CSUP).  The intent of this Florida Department of Agriculture (FDACS) program is to offer a safe, convenient, and cost effective mechanism for commercial operations (farms, groves, greenhouses, nurseries, and golf courses, pest control services) to properly dispose of pesticides.  This is not a household hazardous waste program and is not intended for residential customers. The 2024-25 Cleansweep Pesticide Collection Form can be filled out and emailed to Theresa.Chandler@fdacs.gov, or by calling Theresa at 877-851-5285 to be placed on the participant list for the program year that stretches from July 2024 – June 2025.  At this time, we have not set a date for pickups, but encourage all participants to return the completed form as soon as possible, since we will only provide the contractor with a list when we have enough participants to do so.  If your request is time sensitive, you may want to seek alternative disposal options.  You may also want to download their printer friendly flyer to post in your pesticide storage facility:  2024-25 Operation Cleansweep Flyer

If time is a factor for you and funds happen to be depleted for the current program year at the time of your submission, or if you have material that does not fall under the guidelines for free pickup, a list of Currently Registered Commercial Hazardous Waste Transporters can be found at this link:  https://fldeploc.dep.state.fl.us/www_rcra/reports/CommHWTransport.asp. Additional resources for proper disposal of products may be found by contacting your local county solid waste department as well.

If you have multiple locations that will need to have pesticides picked up, please fill out a separate form for each location address.  Please make sure to list each pesticide name and amount on the form.

You will not have to relocate the pesticides from their current location, but we do ask that the chemicals are all in one central location that is easily accessible to a tractor/trailer. The contractor will contact you prior to pick up to schedule the exact date. Please make sure someone is available from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. to meet them.

Keep in mind, chemicals that fall under the guideline for pickup will have an EPA registration number associated with them.

Items That Do Not Qualify for FREE pickup (This is not a complete list, but the most common):

Rinsate is not accepted.

Residential products are not accepted.

Fertilizer – unless it is pesticide-coated.

Household Paint – anti-fouling paint is acceptable

Empty Pesticide Containers

Gas cylinders – Refer to manufacturer or supplier for information on recovery or recycling.

Sludge

Although Cleansweep does not take empty containers, there are other avenues of disposal.  Please see below, and as always, refer to the label of each container for proper disposal.
