Researchers at the University of Florida Department of Animal Sciences are conducting a study to investigate the use of Languages Other Than English [LOTEs] within livestock production operations in the state of Florida. The goal of the study is to help jobseekers and the educational institutions preparing jobseekers better understand the skills desired by animal production employers, and in turn, promote a more tailored pool of candidates for employers hiring within the state.

All Florida livestock producers are asked to kindly help by completing the following short survey about the use of Languages Other Than English within their operations. Survey questions will only ask about language use and simple demographic information. The survey will not ask about immigration status, or for the identification of the farm or facility by name.

The survey will take approximately 3 to 7 minutes to complete and will be available through the link below until December 1, 2025. For any questions or concerns, please contact study coordinator Emma Beasley, Department of Animal Sciences, at ebeasley1@ufl.edu or (850) 512-9786 or her supervisor, Dr. Lori Warren, Department of Animal Sciences, at lkwarren@ufl.edu or (352) 392-1957. Thank you for your help.
